Hurricane Relief
Many of our brothers and sisters are affected by the destructive power of hurricanes. Every third Saturday of the month, a group from Holy Covenant makes the short journey to the Gulf coast to help with the rebuilding of people’s homes in the aftermath. In this service opportunity, we find that this process of rebuilding homes also allows the participants to build relationships with one another. UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) helps make this ministry possible.
Mountain T.O.P.
Mountain T.O.P. - the Tennessee Outreach Project - is an ongoing and long-time mission of Holy Covenant. 10-day trips for youth and adults are scheduled each summer to the Cumberland Mountains, for home repair and new building projects supporting the local rural communities and families. Summer jobs are also available for college students to work as counselors and assistants for the visiting youth groups. Opportunities to work in the same surroundings are also available to adults through AIM (Adults in Mission).
Methodist Children's Home
The Methodist Children's Home in Waco, TX, is a ministry of the United Methodist Church that the Outreach Team has chosen to extend extra support from Holy Covenant. It is a non-profit child care ministry that started out as an orphanage back in 1890 and now serves 700 children through residential care, a Boys Ranch, foster care and a college program, many of these for troubled youth. Methodist Children's Home offers hope to children, youth and families through a nurturing, Christian community. Holy Covenant supports the Methodist Children’s Home. |
